I've never written up a pattern before, so if you have trouble understanding anything, let me know and I'll try to clarify. Catching typos will be much appreciated, too.
Crocheted Ice Cream Cones
Melia Kobe
Yarn:
1 skein Red Heart Super Saver- light brown
1 skein Sugar'n Cream- anything that tickles you
Hook:
Size F/6
Other:
Stitch marker
Fiber Fill
Yarn Needle
Seed Beads, Embroidery Floss, Felt, etc.
You'll need the stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round. No gauge is given as gauge isn't important in this project so much as having a firm fabric so the stuffing won't leak out.
Ch1 counts as first stitch.
Make cone:
Stuff cone as you work.
Row 1: With Red Heart, start by making a magic ring with a base of 6 sc. Join with slip stitch to first sc.
Row 2: Ch1, sc in each sc around. Join to ch1 with slip stitch. You will probably have to turn the piece right side out as you go the first few rounds.
Row 3: Ch1, sc in same stitch, sc in next stitch. [2sc in next st, sc in next 2 st] around. Join to first ch with slip stitch. (9 st)
Row 4: Ch1, sc around.
Row 5: Ch1, sc in same stitch, sc in next 2 stitches. [2sc in next st, Sc in next 3 st] around. Join to first ch with slip stitch. (12 st)
Row 6: Ch1, sc around.
Rows 7-18: Continue in this manner, increasing every odd row and crocheting around evenly every even row. You should have 27 st at the end of row 18. Fasten off, break yarn, and weave in the ends.
Make Ice Cream Ripple Edge Thing:
Angle cone so the inside is facing you and you can see the stuffing. Working from the edge farthest away from you, attach Sugar'n Cream to the Back Loop only.
Chain 3. Work 2dc in same st. [Skip one st, slip stitch in next st. 3dc in next st] around, continuing to work in the back loop, ending with a slip stitch. Join to third chain at beginning of round. Fasten off and weave in end.
The Ice Cream:
This time you can angle the cone so the outside is facing you, and attach the yarn to the back loop on the edge closest to you, the loop that wasn't used.
Row 1: With Sugar'n Cream, attach yarn and ch1. Sc in back loop in each sc around. Join with slip st to beginning ch. (27 st)
Rows 2-3: Ch1, sc in each stitch around, working in both loops from now on. Join to ch1.
Row 4: Ch1, decrease over next 2 stitches. [1sc in next st, dec over next 2 st] around. Join to ch1. (18 st)
Rows 5-6: Ch1, sc in each st around. Join to ch1.
Row 7: Do not chain, but dec over next 2 st. Repeat around. (9 st) Break off yarn leaving enough to cinch up hole.
Stuff firmly. Weave yarn through stitches and cinch closed. Weave in the ends.
If desired, embellish with embroidery, felt, seed beads, glitter, fabric paint, or whatever else you can come up with.
